Abstract

This course reviews the haematological system and provides an overview on the spectrum of haematological cancers.    The pathophysiology of haematological malignancies such as leukaemias, lymphomas and myeloma are discussed along with their common treatments. The issues and complications of bone marrow and stem cell transplant are reviewed. Matters relating to clinical trial issues including ethical considerations and health economics will be examined. Additional therapeutic options such as immunotherapy and vaccines are considered too.    Case studies, quizzes and open discussion will form an integral part of the programme.
